(Staten Island, N.Y.) – Sunday afternoon, the Delaware State women's soccer team (2-6) came away with a 1-0 win on the road over the Wagner Seahawks (3-3-1), behind a Paige Wilcox (3) first half score and a strong team defensive effort led by goalkeeper Katelyn Koslosky collecting six saves for her seventh career shutout victory.
For Wilcox, who now leads the team in scoring with six points, put a shot past Wagner's Katie Marcy during the 28th minute for the lone score of the afternoon. Forward Emma Cain was credited with an assist.
At game's end, the Seahawks tallied 18 shots, compared to DSU's eight. Nevertheless, the Hornets kept Wagner at bay for the entire game to secure their first victory over the Seahawks since 2010. Additionally, it marked the second time in team history the Hornets have totaled two road victories in a season.
Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will be in action this Friday (7 p.m.) at UMBC.
