LADY HORNETS FALL BIG TO PITT IN ROAD TRIP FINALE

(Pittsburgh, Pa.) – The Delaware State women's basketball team (1-10) were no match on the road Tuesday night, as the ACC's Pittsburgh Panthers (10-3) pulled out a 93-58 victory, behind a 50 percent (33-of-66) shooting effort and five players finishing in double figures.

With this loss, the Lady Hornets dropped their seventh in a row, while the Panthers picked up their fifth consecutive win.

The first half featured Pitt leading by as many as 27 on two separate occasions, spearheaded by a 18-for-33 (.545) output from the field and shooting 93 percent (13-of-14) from the charity stripe.  Pitt also converted 11 DSU turnovers into 15 points, in addition to tallying 26 points in the paint.

Forward Stasha Corey, who coming into tonight's matchup was nearly averaging a double-double (9.7 ppg - 9.4 rpg), led all scorers at the break with 14 points (6-of-8) and four steals.

DSU, meanwhile, was just 10-of-26 (.385) from the field, whereas forward Tierra Hawkins had eight points on 4-for-6 shooting and five rebounds.

The second half was much of the same, as Pitt opened the stanza on an 18-5 run to make it a 70-33 contest, its largest lead of the night, after reigning ACC Player of the Week Brianna Kiesel converted on a fast break opportunity.

The rest of the way, despite shooting 45 percent (13-of-29) in the final 20 minutes, the Lady Hornets failed to get within 25, as Corey (8-of-11) and Kiesel (7-of-12) finished with a game-high 19 points for the Lady Panthers.

For Delaware State, forward Amber Bogard led the way for three players scoring in double figures with 13 points on a tough 5-for-16 (.312) night from the field.

Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will return home for only the second time this season on Jan. 10 to take on Morgan State, in what will be DSU's first MEAC test of the year.
