and nearly 50 percent of the Delaware State University student-athlete population
has been named to the Hornet Academic Honor Roll for the 2011 Fall Semester and
15 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages.
The Hornet
baseball team kept their rein on top of the men's sport team rankings for the
third straight semester, leading all men's squads with a combined 3.19
GPA. This mark also continues the team's
tradition of improving each semester as they posted a combined 2.72 GPA for
spring 2011.
Additionally,
each men's team (football, track & field and basketball) also improved
their GPA from the previous semester and the combined men's sport GPA rose
nearly 20 points.
The bowling
team overtook volleyball's position at the top of the women's charts with their
fall GPA of 3.54, an improvement over their spring mark of 3.35.
DSU boasted
151 student-athletes on the Hornet Academic Honor Roll, up two percent from
spring semester. To be named on the
Hornet Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must record at least a 3.0 GPA and
be taking 12 or more credits.
The Hornets

must maintain a 3.25 term GPA and be enrolled in 14 or more credits for the
semester.
Various teams
saw student-athletes boast a perfect 4.0 GPA as 15 student-athletes were named
to the President's List.
With the end
of a semester also comes a number of graduating student-athletes as Delaware
State graduated seven student-athletes this past fall.
