HANOVER, N.H. - Sophomore Jessica Croucher (Brisbane, Australia)
was named to the Dartmouth Invitational All-Tournament team Saturday despite
the Delaware State University volleyball team losing 3-0 to Dartmouth in the
final game of the weekend.
Croucher
finished the three match tournament with 27 kills, 18 digs and a .141 attack
percentage.
Against
the Big Green, the sophomore outside hitter recorded eight kills and eight digs.
Dartmouth
overpowered the Hornets in the first set of the match, defeating them
25-14. The set included a 9-2 run from
the Big Green in the middle of the set.
In
the second set, Del State allowed Dartmouth to take a 10-3 lead and never fully
recovered, eventually falling, 25-15.
The
Hornets came out with more fight and vigor in the third set, but it wasn't
enough as the Big Green outmatched them, 25-22. Things were tied at 21-21 before Dartmouth
rattled off three straight points, forcing a DSU timeout. The Hornets came out of the timeout with a
kill from Croucher to bring things to 24-22, but a kill from Dartmouth's Maura
Manley finished the match.
The
victory puts the Big Green at 8-3 on the season while the Hornets drop to 1-10
in their final regular season tournament.
DSU
wraps up Route 1 Rivalry week with the University of Delaware on Tuesday as the
two schools' volleyball teams match-up in a 7 p.m. contest at the Viera Court
on the UD campus.
