NEWARK, N.J. - Veronica Aguilar scored a goal in the
seventh minute to lead No. 3 South Carolina State past No. 6 Delaware State,
1-0, in the first round of the Great West Conference Tournament Friday evening
at NJIT's Lubetkin Field at J. Malcolm Simon Stadium.
Aguilar's
tally came off of an impressive corner kick that curved past Hornet freshman
goalie Katelyn Koslosky (East Islip,

the season and all that the Bulldogs would need to advance to the tournament's
semi-finals.
SCSU
outshot DSU, 3-1, in the first half of play with the Hornets holding a 4-2 edge
in the second.
Sophomores
Kelly Pelz-Butler (Silver Spring,
Md.) and Kaitlyn Schech (Abingdon,
Md.) each tallied a shot on goal for Del State.
Schech's shot came in the 12th minute from the top of the box
while Pelz-Butler recorded hers in the 70th minute from the far
right wing. Both shots were saved by
SCSU's Mariah Hebbe.
Koslosky
collected one save on the day, coming in the 80th minute from Breia
Pierce from the close right wing.
The
