THE GAME
Delaware State welcomes North Carolina Central to Alumni Stadium for a contest between teams seeking their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory this season. DSU is trying to snap a six-game losing streak that's dropped its record to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the MEAC. The Hornets are coming off a 12-0 homecoming loss to Morgan State last Saturday. North Carolina Central also brings a six-game losing streak into the contest. The Eagles suffered a 34-6 loss to Bethune-Cookman last Saturday to fall to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
THE SERIES
The teams are meeting for the second straight year and 20th time overall. Delaware State won last year's meeting 29-7 at Alumni Stadium to snap a four-game NCCU win streak in the series. The Eagles hold a 13-6 series lead. In the 2010 meeting, the Hornets recorded six sacks, including 3.5 by Olusegon Ayanbiola, en route to the win. Delaware State receiver Justin Wilson had eight catches for 129 yards in the contest. The Hornets and Eagles met six times from 1945 to 1950 as members of the Central Intercollegiate Association (CIAA), and nine times from 1971 to '79 during NCCU's first stint in the MEAC.
