THE GAME
Delaware State welcomes long-time rival Howard University to Alumni Stadium in the 2011 finale for each team. DSU is trying to snap an eight-game losing streak that's dropped its record to 2-8 overall and 0-7 in the MEAC. The Hornets are coming off a 42-6 loss to Hampton on the road last week. Delaware State committed six turnovers in the contest, including a school-record six interceptions. Still, the Hornets only trailed 14-6 after scoring their lone touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Surprising Howard is 5-5 overall and 4-3 in MEAC play. The Bison have won two of their last three games, including a 10-7 victory over Hampton in their last outing on Nov. 5.
THE SERIES
The teams are meeting for the 54th consecutive year and 68th time overall, making it Delaware State's oldest rivalry. The Hornets have won the last four meetings to cut Howard's lead to 34-32-1 in the all-time series. Delaware State racked up season-highs in points, total yards (421) and passing yards (400) in a 53-43 win over Howard in Washington, D.C. last year. Delaware State's Justin Wilson had nine catches for a career-high 217 yards to lead the Hornets. His yardage total is second best in team history. The last time the teams met at DSU, the Hornets posted a 30-20 win. Darius Jackson led the Hornets with 11 catches for 127 yards in that contest.
