COLD SHOOTING DOOMS DSU WOMEN

Baltimore, Md. (Jan. 25, 2010) --- The Delaware State women's basketball team hit just eight field goals in a 58-37 loss to Coppin State at the CSU Physical Education Complex today.

The Lady Hornets dropped their fourth straight to fall 3-16 overall and 1-5 in the MEAC. Coppin State improved to 7-10 and 3-3.

Delaware State was 8-for-47 from the floor for the game (17.0%), hitting just three first half shots (3-for-22) and five (5-of-25) in the final 20 minutes.

Lakeytah Irving, Leola Spotwood and Crystal Whittington led Coppin State with 10 points each.

Delaware State freshman Crystal Pitt led all players with a career-high 12 points. Pitt was 3-for-3 from the field, including a three-pointer, and 5-of -6 from the free throw line.

Kianna D'Oliveira added 10 points for the Lady Hornets.

Delaware State returns to action this Saturday at home against Hampton. Game time is 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
