MORGAN ST. WOMEN HOLD OFF LATE DSU RALLY

 Baltimore, Md. (Jan. 23, 2009) --- The Delaware State women's basketball team suffered another heartbreaking loss and another injury to a key player at Morgan State this afternoon. The Lady Hornets trailed by as many as 23 points in the first half before taking a late lead in a 62-58 loss to the Bears at Hill Field House.   The Lady Hornets lost their third straight to fall to 3-15 overall and 1-4 in the MEAC. Morgan State improved to 8-9 and 4-1.   Delaware State also suffered a blow when junior forward Brittany Washington went down with an ankle injury in the second half. Washington is the team's leading rebounder.   The Bears appeared headed for a blow out win after opening up a 36-13 lead on two free throws with 2:32 left in the first half. The Lady Hornets outscored Morgan 10-2 in the last 2:01 of the first half to pull to within 38-23 at intermission.   Delaware State cut away at Morgan's lead throughout the second half, and pulled ahead 56-55 on a jumper by Selena Galloway with 4:34 left to play.   Morgan State responded with a 5-0 run, and opened up a 60-56 lead on a lay up by Corin Adams with 24 seconds left.   On the ensuing possession, Delaware State had a chance to tie the game but Alex Stewart missed a shot from close range with nine seconds left.   Adams hit two free throws with 5.9 seconds left to seal the win form the Bears.    Dee Holloman led the Lady Hornets with a career-high 19 points. She was 7-of-10 from the field, including 5-for-5 from three-point territory. Galloway added 18 points and Kianna D'Oliveira 10 for DSU.
