STATEN ISLAND, NY. (September 6th, 2009) - Delaware State Soccer fell 7-0 to the Wagner Seahawks on Sunday afternoon at the Wagner College Stadium
Four different Seahawks (1-2) were able to find the back of the Hornet net. DSU continues to persevere through a series of injuries and depth issues, as no substitute players were able to make the trip to New York with the squad. The Hornets (0-3) have been able to keep their discipline through the rough patch, with no player having been shown a card of any color from the referee through 270 minutes of play this season.
"I just can't say enough about the attitude of team, how they continue to play until the end," said Hornet head coach Nitan Soni. "They just keep plugging away and are not giving up. If anything positive can come from this, it's that this group has continued to fight and fight. We're not losing games because we have bad players, this is just a case of extreme circumstances."
The Hornets will open the home portion of the slate when they host Canisus on Friday at 7pm at Alumni Stadium, and game admission is free for all fans and friends.
