LEWISBURG, PA; (September 18th)
- Delaware State Hornet Volleyball was unable to extend its five match win streak falling to the Bucknell Bison 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) on Friday night at Davis Gym in the first match of the Bucknell Invitational.
"We played subpar today," said head coach Renee Arnold, whose charges had 15 hitting errors and 10 service errors on the night. "We didn't play aggressively enough, and that's what ended up being the deciding factor. They came out wanting to win, and we came out making mistakes. Martina Ferrari (libero) really brought it tonight and made some plays, but she was the only one. This simply wasn't good enough."
Ashley Hermann paced all Hornets with eight kills against just one error on 14 attacks for a .500 hitting percentage, and also chipped in three digs. The Bison were led by freshman middle hitter Ragin Jackson, who had 11 kills on just 14 attacks with one error to swing .714 for the match. The Bison (4-6) were more impressively offensively with 43 kills and a .261 percentage to just 23 scoring attacks for the Hornets (6-6) on a .099 hitting average.
DSU looks to rebound tomorrow when they take on Rutgers at 10:00 a.m., and Radford at 3:00 p.m. Live stats for both matches are available via this link.
