HORNETS NIPPED BY BULLDOGS

DOVER Del. (Oct 4th) - Despite having more shots on goal than in any match this season, the DSU Hornets were unable to put one away and fell to the South Carolina State Bulldogs 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

DSU (1-10, 0-2 Great West) took 11 shots against SCSU, and were able to force five saves from Bulldog keeper Alechia Brothers, but couldn't find the back of the net.  The difference came in the 24th minute when Dani Benton received a pass from Stephanie Searle on the right edge of the 6 yard box.  The confusion resulted in the only tally of the match, slotted away past starting Hornet kepper Brittany Curtis.  Curtis would be removed in the 29th minute, and replacement Courtney Haas was able to keep a clean sheet for the balance with six saves.

SCSU (7-5, 1-1) outshot the Hornets 15-11, with eight shots on goal for the visitors to five for DSU.

After playing five matches in nine days, The Hornets get a much needed week of rest before taking on Howard next Sunday in Washington D.C. at 1 p.m.  The Bison were 3-0 winners in the Great West opener for both teams on Sept. 25th.  The availability of live stats or streaming for the match is unknown at this time.
