DOVER, Del. (September 3, 2008) ?Wagner's Catherine Del Medico scored the game-winning goal 15 seconds after DSU's Brittanee Gourdine scored the game-tying goal, to end the game at 2-1.  The Hornets fall to 0-3 on the season, while Wagner improves to 1-2.

“This was a tough game to lose today,” said head coach Nitan Soni.  “The girls played hard and it's important that we pick ourselves up for Sunday.”

The hard work for the Hornets started on the defensive end as they were forced to fall back to help out goalkeeper Courtney Haas in the first half.  Wagner's Diane Gantenhammer would take advantage of DSU's worn out defense, scoring off of a rebound of her own penalty kick in the 83rd minute.  However, in the last seven minutes of the game, the DSU offense pushed forward as Gourdine and sophomore Kelly Cheng blasted three shots on goal, one of them being the game-tying goal by Gourdine.

Haas finished with a season-high eight saves in the loss.

The Hornets will stay at home to face Quinnipiac, Sunday, September 7, at 1 p.m
