WOMEN?S SOCCER GETS FIRST WIN OF SEASON AGAINST CONCORDIA

DOVER, Del. (September 14, 2008) ? Leah Hontz, Ashlee Gourdine, and Navado Wood all had goals, as head coach Nitan Soni and the Hornets win their first game of the 2008 season, 3-0. With the win, the Hornets improve to 1-5-0 on the season.

“I'm happier for the girls,” said Soni. “They have worked really hard, and it's nice to get a win for their efforts.

On this day, their efforts got the job done, as they registered 15 shots, seven on goal.

Gourdine would start the scoring in the fourth minute of the game as she took a cross from Wood and put it passed CU GK Aileen Alvear for the goal.

Just three minutes later, Leah Hontz blasted a free kick to the top right corner of the net for the second DSU goal of the game.

The scoring would conclude in the 25th minute when Wood was dealt a ball down the sideline from Hontz and put in the net from close range.

DSU GK Courtney Haas registered her first shutout of the season. She had four saves in the effort.

The Hornets will look to build on their winning streak, as they travel to Newark, to face Wilimington on September 22, at 4 p.m.
