DSU VOLLEYBALL FAULTERS AT GW INVITATIONAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 13, 2008) ? Although there seemed to be the added motivation of head coach Renee Arnold returning to her alma mater, the DSU volleyball team couldn't capitalize on that motivation, as they fell to both George Washington and Rider this weekend, at the G.W. Invitational.

The Hornets would fall to GW on Saturday, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-13).  Junior Cassandra Joyner led the team offensively with 10 kills, while sophomore Erica Tajchman led DSU on the defensive end with seven digs.

On Saturday, the Hornets would show improvement, but still fell to Rider, 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 28-26).  Joyner would again show her veteran leadership on the offensive side, registering nine kills in the effort.  Freshman Martina Ferrari aided in that effort, registering 16 assists.  Ferrari also tallied nine digs along with freshman Elisa Hermann, on defense.

The Hornets (3-6) will travel to rival Delaware, on September 23.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
