Baltimore, MD --- Delaware State hit three free throws in the last 16 seconds en route to a 52-49 victory over Morgan State at Hill Field House Monday evening. The Lady Hornets won for the third time in four games to improve to 10-11 overall and 5-2 in the MEAC. The Bears lost their third straight to fall to 11-9 and 5-4. DSU led by as many eight in the second half before Morgan State stormed back. The Bears led 47-43 after a free throw by Shalene Price with 3:59 left to play. Delaware State tied the game for the seventh time (49-49) on a jumper by Ashley Thompson with 49 seconds remaining. After a missed shot by Morgan State, DSU's Ashlee Burbage was fouled with 16 seconds left. Burbage hit two free throws to give the Lady Hornets a 51-49 lead. On the ensuing possession, Delaware State's Jameka Smith blocked a Morgan State shot and Keyhana Wakefield was fouled after the Lady Hornets recovered the ball. Wakefield hit one of two free throws to put DSU ahead 52-49 with eight ticks remaining. Morgan State failed to get off a potential game tying three-point shot before time expired. Delaware State trailed by as many as seven in the first half, but rallied to take a 28-25 lead at the break. Raquel Collier was high for the Lady Hornets with a game-high 18 points. Collier moved past Chavonne Stewart (1997-01) into sixth place on the Lady Hornets' all-time scoring list with 1,354 points. Wakefield was the only other Delaware State player in double figures with 10. The Lady Hornets held a 40-28 rebound advantage. Thompson and Smith led the way with eight boards each.
