LADY HORNETS TOP FAMU FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

 Dover, DE --- Raquel Collier led three players in double figures with 16 points in Delaware State's 55-41 win over Florida A&M in MEAC women's basketball Monday. The Lady Hornets won their second straight to improve to 15-13 overall and 10-4 in the MEAC. Florida A&M has lost four in a row to fall to 11-15 and 2-12. Keyhana Wakefield added 12 points, while Katreem Palmer had 10 points and a team high eight rebounds for Delaware State. Joslyne Jackson was the only Florida A&M player in double figures with 11 points. Florida A&M's Denise Tate led all players with 11 rebounds. Florida A&M led 15-9 before Delaware State took control. The Lady Hornets ran off eight straight points, and opened up a 17-15 lead when Selena Galloway hit two free throws with 8:23 left in the first half. The score was 22-22 before Delaware State closed out the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 31-22 lead at the break. Collier scored five points and Palmer four during the rally. The Lady Hornets led by 16 on two occasions in the second half. Wakefield put DSU ahead 47-31 on two free throws with 12:08 left to play. Florida A&M could get no closer than 10 the rest of the way. Delaware State forced the Rattlers into 34% shooting (16-for-47) and 23 turnovers. The Lady Hornets scored 21 points off Florida A&M turnovers. Delaware State returns to action on Saturday against Morgan State. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
