DOVER (November 2, 2008) ? On their third consecutive day of action, the Delaware State Volleyball Team showed no fatigue as they took care of business against Coppin State (0-23, 0-10) in straight sets (25-8, 25-12, 25-21). With the victory the Hornets have now won three straight conference matches to improve their MEAC record to 7-3 (14-10 overall).
The Hornets came out strong in the first set as Cassandra Joyner and Erica Tajchman combined for 12 kills and no errors to propel DSU to the early 1-0 lead in the match.
The Delaware State offense would continue to prove strong as they recorded 12 kills in the second set to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
Setter Martina Ferrari would make her first appearance of the weekend in the third set. She added 10 assists to help the Hornets take the set and the match, 3-0.
Joyner led the way offensively for Delaware State, registering 15 kills and a season-high .667 attack percentage. Sarah Wheatcroft led DSU passing for the third straight match with 23 assists.
Coppin State setter Lauren Lacey led the way for the Eagles with 15 assists and six digs.
The Hornets will end the regular season at home against NJIT, Saturday, November 8. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
