FIRST PLACE UMES HAULTS DSU VOLLEYBALL'S FOUR-GAME WIN STREAK

Princess Anne, Md. (October 5, 2008) ? UMES setter Christina Estabane' tallied 39 assists to help the Hawks defeat the DSU volleyball team 3-0. (25-15, 25-16, 25-14) The loss snapped the Hornets' four-game winning streak, their longest since 2006. The Hornets fall to 7-8 (1-1 in MEAC) on the season.

The Hawks showed the Hornets why they are indeed a first place team. They out-hit the Hornets .312 to .038 and registered 46 kills to the Hornets' 19.

Junior Cassandra Joyner led DSU on the offensive side racking up 10 kills. She continues to lead the team with 158 kills (2.98/game)

Setter Sarah Wheatcroft led the team with 11 assists with Martina Ferrari tallying six, her second lowest total this season.

The Hornets are now 1-2 on the road this season and will look to rebound in their first official home contest this season against Howard (6-13, 1-1 in MEAC), on October 10. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The Hornets have only managed seven wins in 50 contests against the Bison.
