DSU VOLLEYBALL TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS AGAINST COPPIN STATE

Baltimore, Md. (October 17, 2008) ? The Delaware State Hornets as a team registered 51 kills and 114 total attacks in a 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 21-25, 25-16) victory over Coppin State.  With the victory, the Hornets move over .500 in the MEAC at 3-2. (9-9 overall)

The Hornets were efficient offensively for most of the match as they recorded at least a .231 hitting percentage in every game. 

The first game set the tone for DSU as they put pressure on the Eagles and forced them to register a -.111 hitting percentage. 

After winning the second match and losing the third, the Hornets showed resilience and tallied 14 kills to CSU's eight to close out the game and the 3-1 victory. 

Delaware State's balanced scoring attack featured five players with at least seven kills.  Leading the way was sophomore Erica Tajchman with nine.  She also racked up six digs in the effort.

Freshman setter Martina Ferrari had her seventh 20+ assists effort of the season as she finished with 27 to lead the way for DSU.

The Hornets will look to build on their current two-game winning streak as they return home to face Hampton, this Sunday.  First serve is set for 2 p.m.
