DSU VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS MORGAN STATE TO EVEN MEAC RECORD

Baltimore, Md. (October 12, 2008) ? Sophomore Erica Tajchman registered double-digit kills (12) for the first time since September 6, as the Delaware State volleyball team swept the Morgan State Bears (25-23, 26-24, 25-21).  With the win, the Hornets are back in the MEAC hunt at 2-2 (8-9 overall).

The teams were evenly matched throughout the entire match.  In the first game, both teams registered 13 kills.  DSU only recorded three attack errors in that game to give them the early 1-0 lead.

The second game was when the Hornets really shined offensively.  As a team, they tallied 17 kills and 43 total attacks to give themselves some breathing room at two games to nothing.

In the final set, the Hornets would let the Bears make the mistakes as MSU registered 11 attack errors (.000 attack percentage) to allow the Hornets to put the game and the match away.

Tajchman, in addition to her 12 kills, added 12 digs to lead the Hornets' defense.

Setter Sarah Wheatcroft had 20 assists (first time since 9/6) to help propel the offense in this back and forth match.

For the Bears, setter Christa Rogers recorded 26 assists and four kills to lead the way.

DSU will look to make their way up the MEAC ladder when they travel to Coppin State, October 17.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
