Daytona Beach, FL --- Raquel Collier led four Delaware State players in double figures with 20 points in the Lady Hornets' 71-51 win over Bethune-Cookman at Moore Gym Saturday. DSU won for the fifth time in six games to improve to 8-10 overall and 3-1 in the MEAC. The Wildcats lost their seventh straight to fall to 3-14 and 0-6. The Lady Hornets outscored BCU 41-27 in the second half after leading by just three at the break. Keyhana Wakefield added 16 points for Delaware State, while Katreem Palmer tallied 12 and Selena Galloway 11. Wakefield and Galloway recorded season highs. Thea Littlepage had a team-high 10 rebounds for the Lady Hornets, who held 45-32 edge on the boards. Bethune-Cookman jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but Delaware State scored the next 10 points to pull ahead 12-9. The Wildcats led 27-20 before the Lady Hornets took control for good. Delaware State scored the last 10 points of the first half to take a 30-27 lead at intermission. The Lady Hornets scored 10 of the first 12 points in the second half, and opened up a 40-29 lead on two free throws by Galloway with 14:34 left to play. After Bethune-Cookman pulled to within 40-33, DSU answered with a 15-4 run. The Lady Hornets opened up a 55-37 lead on a lay up by Galloway with 8:20 remaining. Delaware State held its biggest lead, 71-47, after a lay up by Brittany Washington with 1:22 left. The Lady Hornets have won 10 straight in the series. Delaware State returns to action on Monday at Florida A&M.
