Dover, DE --- St. Peter's scored two goals in the first 18 minutes in a 2-0 win over Delaware State in women's soccer in Jersey City, NJ on Sunday. The victory was the first of the season for the Peahens (1-8), while the Hornets fell to 2-5-1. St. Peter's scored its first goal when Kyle Marsh found the net off a feed by Bertha Munoz in the 10th minute. The Peahens struck again when Sarah Meier fed Katelyn Matousek for a goal in the 18th minute. The Hornets challenged St. Peter's goal keeper Rebecca Gibbs throughout the match, but she was up to the challenge. Gibbs recorded nine saves to earn the shutout. Jori Victory had four shots on goal for the Hornets, while Lean Hontz had two. The Hornets return to action next Saturday (Oct. 6) in the United Soccer Conference opener at Longwood (Va.).
