Dover, DE --- The Delaware State volleyball team won the first game, but dropped the last three in a loss to UMES (11-3; 4-0 MEAC) in the Hornets' MEAC opener at the Hytche Center in Princess Anne, MD on Friday. DSU took the first game 30-28, but the Hawks bounced back to win 30-15, 30-23 and 30-18 to claim their ninth straight victory. The Hornets have dropped two in a row to fall to 1-16 overall and 0-1 in the MEAC. Whitney Johnson led UMES with 23 kills, while Caylin Woodward and Holiday Eller had 13 each. Ayana Dyette led Delaware State with 14 kills, while Erija Tajchman had 13. Kinga Muszynski led the Hornets with 13 digs. Delaware State will take on Robert Morris and St. Francis in the UMES/Comfort Inn Classic on Saturday.
