Dover, DE --- The Delaware State volleyball team lost a 2-0 lead before bouncing back to defeat Morgan State 3-2 in MEAC volleyball Thursday evening in Memorial Hall. The Hornets won their fourth in a row to improve to 10-18 overall. The loss snapped a two-match win streak for Morgan State, which fell to 10-16. The Hornets and Bears are now tied for second in the MEAC North at 7-3. UMES has already clinched first place in the northern division. Delaware State took the first game 30-19, and appeared to be headed for a win after taking the second game 30-21. Morgan State stayed alive with a 30-25 victory in game four, then tied the match win a 30-19 win in game four. The Hornets fought back for a 15-10 win in the decisive fifth game. Ayana Dyette led three players in double figures with 18 kills. She also contributed 14 digs. Sarah Wheatcroft had 11 kills and 14 digs, while Ashley Herman also tallied 11 kills. Kinga Muszynski led the Hornets with 19 digs, while Laura Huculak had 35 assists and 16 digs. Morgan State's Ester Johnson led all players with 27 kills, while teammate Ashley Preston had a game-high 23 digs. Jentri Fullove topped all players with 53 assists. Delaware State is now 10-4 since dropping its first 14 matches. The Hornets will close out the regular season this Saturday (Nov. 10) in a non-conference match at New Jersey Tech. The MEAC Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 15-17 in Hampton, VA.
