HORNETS WIN IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

Dover, DE --- Sophomore Savitre Bachoo scored an unassisted goal in the second extra period to lift Delaware State to a 1-0 win over South Carolina State in the regular season finale for the Hornets at Alumni Stadium Sunday. DSU improved to 3-11-2 overall and 1-4 in the United Soccer Conference, while the Bulldogs fell to 3-6 and 0-5. Bachoo dribbled through two defenders before firing a shot past South Carolina State goal keeper Alichia Brothers from 20 yards out to end the contest in the 107th minute. It was the first goal of the season for Bachoo, who scored a team record five in 2006. The teams had few good scoring opportunities during regulation and first overtime period. The Hornets had 14 shots in the contest, including eight on goal. Four of South Carolina State's 14 shots were on goal. Delaware State goal keeper freshman Courtney Haas recorded four saves to earn her second career shutout. Brothers was credited with seven saves for the Bulldogs. The Hornets return to action this Thursday in the opening round of the United Soccer Conference Tournament in Orem, UT.
