The former Coppin State standout is in his second year with the Hornets coaching staff. Wenger assists with the hitters and the outfielders, in addition to serving as the first base coach. In his first year with the Hornets in 2008 he helped the DSU hitters rank in the top three in all offensive categories. While helping the Hornets to a third place finish and sending 3 players to the All Conference Team and one to the All Tournament Team. Before joining the Hornets Wenger coached at Averett University in Danville, VA. Where he helped the Cougars to a school record of 31 wins and 12 losses and a top 25 national ranking in Division III. On the 31 win team there were 5 cougars selected to the USA South al conference teams. Out of the 5 cougars on was an All American Pitcher and another was Rookie of the year in the Conference. In 2006 his first year coaching he stayed behind to help out his alma mater at Coppin State University. Helped lead the Eagles to a third place finish in the MEAC and sending two players to the All MEAC team.

As a player Wenger helped lead Coppin State to a school record 21 wins long with being selected first team all MEAC in 2005. In 2004 he set a school record for single season RBI and AB’s. He also has the school record for RBI’s in a game at 7 vs. Mount Saint Mary’s. Along with being selected to second team all MEAC. Nick was also sent to play in the New York Collegiate Baseball League for the Watertown Wizards. As a freshman and sophomore he lead the Hagerstown Hawks to a NJCAA D1 regional bid along with being selected to the first team all MDJUCO.
