Mark Bennett joined Delaware State University in October 2024 as the Deputy Athletic Director for Athletic Governance. In this role, he oversees athletic compliance and internal-facing operations.
He most recently served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Internal Operations at Lincoln University (PA), where he led the compliance office and was a key member of the department’s executive leadership team. He provided strategic direction with a focus on fiscal management and operational efficiency.
Mark played a pivotal role in enhancing collaboration between athletics and enrollment management, serving as the liaison to Admissions, Housing, the Registrar, and Financial Aid. His efforts improved communication and streamlined workflows for current and prospective student-athletes.
He also served as the athletic department’s liaison for Lincoln’s $35 million facility renovation project, working closely with the Pennsylvania Department of General Services and architectural teams to ensure alignment with the university’s strategic goals and budget.
At Lincoln, Mark had sport oversight of Baseball, Women’s Basketball, and Softball, while contributing to the overall development of all varsity programs. Under his leadership, the softball team became a conference contender, and the head coach was named 'Coach of the Year' in her second season.
Prior to his tenure at Lincoln, Mark held several roles at the University of Delaware, gaining experience in compliance, business operations, and game day management. As a Business Operations Assistant, he managed accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and camp administration, while also supporting game day operations and recreation services.
Mark is an active member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA), and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), where he serves on the MOAA-HBCU & Minority Serving Institutions Committee.
He is a 2024 graduate of the NCAA Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute and has completed several other professional development programs, including the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar, the CABMA Mentor Me Program, and the Emerging Administrators Academy.
A former head baseball coach and student-athlete at Chester High School, Mark was inducted into the Chester High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013. He holds a BA in Organizational Management from Eastern University and an MS in Sport and Entertainment Management from Neumann University. He has also served as an adjunct professor in Neumann’s School of Business Sport Management program and is a proud member of the Chester (PA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
