The Petersburg, Va., is in her seventh season at Delaware State, joining the staff in the summer of 2005.  Dawson is responsible for individual skill development, recruiting, scouting, academic progress and film exchange.

She was in her second season with the Lady Hornets when the team captured its first MEAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2007.

During the 2005-06 season, Dawson's first with the Lady Hornets, the team advanced to the MEAC Tournament championship game.

Before coming to Delaware State, Dawson was an assistant coach at fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member North Carolina A&T during the 2004-05 season.

From 2001-04, she was an assistant coach at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J., under former Delaware State University head coach Jackie DeVane.

During the 2003-04 season, Monmouth reached the Northeast Conference Tournament championship game.

Prior to her years at Monmouth, she was an assistant coach at Division II Valdosta State during the 1999-2000 season.

Dawson was a standout player at Hampton University from 1996 to '99. She was a MEAC All-Rookie selection during the 1996-97 season. Dawson helped lead the Lady Pirates to MEAC Tournament championships in 1998 and '99.

As a junior during the 1997-98 season, she was an All-MEAC First Team and MEAC All-Tournament selection, in addition to team MVP. That year, she averaged nearly 17 points, five rebounds and four assists per game. Dawson was slowed during her senior year by an off-season knee injury.

Before enrolling at Hampton, she was a standout at Menchville High School in Newport News, Va. While there, she earned All-America and All-State honors. She averaged 17 points and four rebounds, and helped lead the team to the state tournament championship game during her senior year.

Dawson received her bachelor's degree in Communication (Speech Therapy) from Hampton in 1999 and a master's in Sports Administration from Delaware State University in 2009.
