Dennis Hawkins joined the Delaware State University staff as Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration in March 2019.
Hawkins most recently served as Assistant Athletics Director - Financial Operations – Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation at Texas A&M University – Kingsville (TAMUK) of the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference since 2015.  His responsibilities included managing an approximately $8 million athletics budget with 40 full-time staff members and roughly 75 student / task workers.
In addition, he monitored and assisted with the development of each department; unit and program operating budget, including financial oversight of head coaches, directors, associate directors and assistant directors.
As a member of the University’s Long Term Budget Committee, Hawkins reviewed the institution’s budget outlook, finances and projected revenues for a three-year period, and develop a detailed plan to respond to circumstances identified by the committee.
He also developed a budget for NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M Kingsville. Â Â
Hawkins was also responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting, including and development and fulfillment of department, TAMUK, NCAA, Lone Star Conference, and federal reporting requirements.
Among his achievements at TAMUK was assistance in the establishment of an athletics department internship program, negotiation of apparel contracts and the rebranding of athletics season passes to generate additional corporate sponsorship revenue.
From November 2013 to October 2015, Hawkins was a Financial Analyst in the Division of Plastic Surgery and Neurosurgery at Cincinnati (OH) Children’s Hospital. While in the post, he provided support for activities associated with external funded projects, including development and maintenance of grant budgets and expense tracking.
Hawkins also served as a Rehab Tech in the Physical Therapy Department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital from March 2011 to November 2013.
The Cincinnati native earned a bachelor’s in Kinesiology from the University of Kentucky in 2010 and a MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2013.
