On September 11, 2026, the Delaware State University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams had a fun day dominating the competition at the DSU Cross Country Sting Invitational located at the Hornets beautiful home farm course located at 884 Smyrna Leipsic Road in Smyrna, Delaware.

The Hornet women scored a program low of 16 points.  MEAC rival, Morgan State University was 2nd in the team standings with 63 points followed by several other MEAC teams and storied HBCU institutions.  Sophomore, Rebecca Jansen won the 5K race with a time of 19:33.3, followed in second place by sophomore teammate Ilianna Surowiec with a time of 20:00.8.  Rounding out the top 5 finishers for DSU were freshman Madison Petersen (3rd overall) with a time of 20:08, Reut Shahar (4th place) and Teagan Yurocko (6th overall).  Newcomer, Cherish Ray also secured a Top 10 finish (9th overall)!  The Hornets put on a tremendous performance at home in front of the Hornet Faithful.
