Hornets Sweep Jerfferson in Mid-Week Doubleheader

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --The Delaware State Hornets took a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Thomas Jefferson Rams on Thursday.

Kaylanie Rodriguez (3-3) got the win for Delaware State (7-15). The right-hander went five innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on eight hits, allowing no walks and striking out four. Rhyannon Stanley also pitched well, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning. Delaware State's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Mi'Shon King and a two-run double from Brylin McCray. Thomas Jefferson put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Hornets still held on for the 5-2 win.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --Kristin White and Allyson Fonollosa combined to toss a shutout on Thursday as the Delaware State Hornets blanked the Thomas Jefferson Rams 5-0.

White (2-6) started and picked up the win for Delaware State (8-15), going six shutout innings while giving up one hit, walking three, and striking out four. Fonollosa was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning, allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Delaware State got an RBI single from Nevaeh Terrell, scoring Angie Ordonez from third base.

The Hornets then tacked on runs in four more innings, with their biggest output coming in the sixth when they scored one time.
