NORFOLK, VA --Nevaeh Terrell and Mianna Lopez each collected two extra base hits, but the Delaware State Hornets fell to the Norfolk State Spartanettes 9-3 on Sunday.
Kaylanie Rodriguez (1-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Delaware State (6-11, 1-2).
Lopez's two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-2 day, and included a double, a triple and a walk. Terrell made her contribution with two triples and an RBI, part of a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Rodriguez also contributed for the Hornets, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Delaware State put up two runs in the frame, highlighted by an RBI triple off the bat of Terrell.
The Hornets then held the Spartans scoreless before expanding their lead in the fourth inning. Delaware State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Rodriguez, which brought the Hornets' lead to 3-0. The Hornets were unable to hold the lead, as Norfolk State scored nine times over the remaining three innings to grab the 9-3 win.
