DAVIS, Calif. - Delaware State equestrian defeated the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles 12-4 on Saturday.
It is the second time this season the Hornets won over the Golden Eagles, and it was Delaware State's final of three meets in California.
The Hornets dominated in Jumping Seat 6-2. Both teams tied 2-2 in Fences.
Lily Kosal and
Victoria Croston each took a point, and Kosal earned Most Outstanding Performer. She got an 84 aboard "Courtage." All four Delaware State riders in Flat swept the Golden Eagles for points:
Olivia Brown,
Chloey Prichard, Kosal, and
Grace Mangrum. Mangrum was MOP aboard "Glennis."
Again, it was a 6-2 result for the Hornets in the Western rides. They won 3-1 in both Horsemanship and Reigning.
Kirsten Buckwalter,
Claire Andrews, and
Aniela Cortina earned points in Horsemanship. Andrews won by 8.5 points over her opponent while riding "Bella." In Reigning, Andrews,
Bailey Henderson, and
Anna Payne snagged points for Delaware State. Andrews was named MOP with her horse "Cruiser."
The Hornets put up 552 points in Jumping Seat to the Golden Eagles' 531. Minnesota Crookston won the Western competition 544.5 to 495. For total points, the Hornets had 1047 to the Golden Eagles' 1075.5. But, Delaware State won overall 12-4.
