DAVIS, Calif. - Although Delaware State equestrian had more points than the University of California-Davis Aggies in the Western rides on Friday, the Aggies took the meet 15-5.
The Aggies grabbed the Jumping Seat competition 8-2, but the Hornets made up ground in Western 7-3.
In Jumping Seat,
Olivia Brown took the lone Hornets' point. She scored 84 while riding "Otis."
Chloey Prichard utilized "Tony" to snag a point for Delaware State in "Flat." It was a nine-point advantage over her opponent.
Delaware State came up just short on the Western side.
Aniela Cortina took Most Outstanding Performer in Horsemanship aboard "Maizy." Three of the five Hornets' riders came within 0.5-1 point of their opponents in Horsemanship. However, they would make a comeback in Reigning. Delaware State grabbed two points, this time from
Estella Estus and
Claire Andrews. Estus rode "Camacho," while Andrews rode "Cruiser." Delaware State dominated in Reigning, 339.5 to 279.
The Hornets put up 656 in Jumping Seat compared to UC-Davis' 804. The Hornets won in Western 695.5 to 640.5. In total, though, UC-Davis won 1444.5 to 1351.5.

Delaware State finishes their trio of California meets tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 25. They will remain at UC-Davis for a neutral-site meet against the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles.
