FELTON, DEL. - With three competition wins out of four, Delaware State equestrian won 15-4 in their season-opening meet against the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles.
Even with a close 3-2 advantage for the Golden Eagles in Fences, the Hornets bounced back with a 5-0 victory in Flat. This gave them a 7-3 win in Jumping Seat.
Lily Kosal and
Olivia Brown earned the two Delaware State points in Fences. Kosal scored an 87 to win Most Outstanding Performer while riding "Tillie." Delaware State would sweep Minnesota Crookston by earning all five points in Flat. Brown was the MOP this time, scoring an 81 aboard "Finn."
The Hornets dominated in the Western competition 8-1.
Ashley Grasso was the MOP in Horsemanship with a score of 76, just 0.5 points more than her opponent. She won while riding "Maverick."
Anna Payne took a point and the MOP in Reigning while riding "Wally."

The Hornets have the second of back-to-back meets tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. They will host the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
