Madelyn Edwards threw six solid innings, but it was not enough in Delaware State's 2-1 MEAC loss to Morgan State today. The Bears swept the three-game series to improve to 20-13 overall and 10-1 in the MEAC. The Hornets fell to 6-21 and 2-9.
Edwards allowed eight hits, striking out one and allowing just one walk. Morgan State's Anaya Hunt allowed four hits and an unearned run, while striking out seven to earn the win.
The Hornets trailed 2-0 before scoring their run on a Morgan State error in the top of then sixth inning. Destiny Stewart reached base on a bunt single to lead off the inning and later scored on the Morgan State with on a ball hit by
Julianna Cerron.
Delaware State loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning when
Mikaela Francois singled to lead off the inning,
Chandler Martin reached on a fielder's choice and
Kayla Lester singled, but Hunte retired Stewart on a ground out to end the game.    Â
