HORNETS POST SHUTOUT WIN AT TOWSON

Dover, Del. (Apr. 17, 2023) --- The Delaware State women's tennis team continued its recent success with a 7-0 victory over Towson today. The Hornets won each of the five contested singles matches, four in straight sets, and claimed the two doubles contests to post their first-ever victory over the Tigers in five contests. Delaware State also won its 11th match during the combined fall and spring seasons (11-7-1), its most since posting a 14-5 mark during the 2012-13 campaign.
In today's match at Towson, Daria Julia won her eighth straight completed singles match with a 7-6, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Klaudija Lisovska has won five straight and seven of her last eight singles contests with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Noelani Lui and Lucia Corte also posted straight set wins at Towson today. Lui was a 6-4, 6-2 winner in the No. 2 match, while Corte had the Hornets' most dominant victory (6-1, 6-1) in the No. 5 contest.
Delaware State's Kit Yi Kay Au-Yeung was extended to three sets, but outlasted Towson's Sarah Pospischill 6-2, 5-7, 11-9 in an exciting No. 1 match.
Au-Yeung and Julia also teamed up for a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Lui and Lisovska posted a 6-0 win in the No. 2 doubles contest.
Towson was forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles matches.
The Hornets are back in action on Thursday (Apr. 20) at Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. Start time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
