NEW CASTLE, DE — The Delaware State University team fought hard in their first competition of the season at the Bud Whitman Invitational.
The Hornets sat in first place Saturday, finishing 4-1 during traditional matches, with top-individual bowler Sydney Reardon (200.60 average) named to the All-tournament team and teammates Skylar Tenan (187.80) and Emily Breidegam (186.00) earning top 10 finishes.
Then, during Baker's play on Sunday, the Hornets dropped to LIU, 4-3 in the best-of-seven finals. The final round was decided by one pin, 193-192.
"They fought hard, being only five girls were able to compete, they kept up the pace with no breaks from the competition," said head coach Samantha Noviscky.
The Hornets will return to action at Sunshine State Classic in Orlando, Florida, October 27-29.
