Felton, Del. (Sep. 24, 2022) --- The Delaware State equestrian team turned in a strong performance in a 12-3 victory over Minnesota Crookston at the Dovington Training Center on Saturday.
The Hornets won the Jumping Seat competition 6-1 and were 6-2 winners in the Western rides.
Delaware State claimed all four Most Outstanding Performer awards in the contest.
In the Jumping Seat competition, Miranda McCarthy was MOP in Fences, topping all competitors with a score of 80 aboard "River."
Olivia Brown rode "Finnegan" to a score of 82 to earn MOP honors on the Flat.
On the Western side, Delaware State's
Kersten Zehner was awarded after posting a Horsemanship score of 78 on "Baby," while teammate
Aidan Stetzer was MOP in Reining with a score of 78 aboard "Dunnit."
The Hornets also recorded a point in Reining from
Amber Van Segbrook (74).
In addition to Zehner,
Ashley Grasso (77),
Casey Johnson (76) and Alex Grogan (75) were winners in Horsemanship to give the Hornets a 4-0 sweep in the event.
McCarthy was a double winner for the day, collecting a point for the Hornets with a score of 79 on the Flat.
Victoria Croston also posted two wins in the competition, posting a winning score of 79 in Fences and earned a point on the Flat with a score of 73. Â Â
