Felton, Del. (Sep. 23, 2022) --- The Delaware State equestrian team opened its 2022-23 season on the short end of a 14-6 score at the hands of nationally-ranked South Carolina at the Dovington Training Center today. The Gamecocks were 10
th in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association preseason rankings.
South Carolina won the Jumping Seat and Western competitions by identical 7-3 scores.
The highlight for Delaware State was the performance by
Megan Winborne, who earned Most Outstanding Performer honors after topping all riders with a score of 87 in Fences.
Miranda McCarthy (76) also posted a Fences win for the Hornets, while
Victoria Croston collected a point for Delaware State with a win on the Flat (78).
Kersten Zehner (72) and Alex Grogan (70.5) were winners for the Hornets in Horsemanship. Delaware State's Aiden Stetzer won her ride with a score of 63.5 in Reining.
