Dallas, Tex. (Nov. 12, 2022) --- Delaware State won six of seven official Western rides, highlighted by two Most Outstanding Performers, to defeat No. 9 Cal Davis today.
The final team score was 7-7, but the Hornets dominated the raw scoring tiebreaker 1237.25 to 1078.26.
Delaware State's
Casey Johnson was Most Outstanding Performer in Horsemanship after topping all riders with a score of 76 aboard "JR."
Aniela Cortina (75) and
Kersten Zehner (72.5) also posted Horsemanship victories for the Hornets, who were 3-1 winners in the competition. Â
Delaware State also came out on top in Reining by a 3-1 score.
Aidan Stetzer collected the Reining MOP with a score of 73.5 on "Tberg."
Estella Estus (74) and Abbey Craver (73.5) also turned in strong performances to earn Reining points for the Hornets.
UC Davis was the winner in the Jumping Seat competition by a 6-1 score.
Victoria Croston, riding on "Cali," collected the Hornets' lone Jumping Seat win with a score of 79 to earn a point on the Flat.
Olivia Brown had a strong ride with a score of 84 in Fences, second among all competitors, but fell one point short against her UC Davis competitor. Â Â
