Felton, Del. (Oct. 13, 2022) --- The Delaware State equestrian team put up a good fight against the top ranked team in the country but fell short to. No. 1 Texas Christian (TCU), which topped the Hornets 12-8 on Thursday at the Dovington Training Center.
The Hornets were even with the Horned Frogs in the Western competition (5-5), but were outscored 7-3 in the Jumping Seat rides.
Delaware State, however, managed two captured two Most Outstanding Performer awards in Jumping Seat.
Victoria Croston (jr.) topped all riders in the Flat with a score of 90 aboard "Carlus" to earn MOP honors, while
Olivia Brown (so.) had the top scorer in Fences with a score of 82 on "River" to earn her second MOP award of the season.
Brown was also a winner on the Flat, outscored her opponent 89-87 on "Finnegan."
In the Western competition, Delaware State posted a 3-2 victory in Horsemanship, with
Kersten Zehner (sr.),
Alexis Grogan (sr.) and
Casey Johnson (sr.) earning wins.
Abbey Craver (sr.) and Aiden Stetzer (sr.) delivered wins for the Hornets in Reining.
