NEW CASTLE, Del. --- The Delaware State women's bowling team opened its 2022-23 season over the weekend at the Bud Whitman Classic hosted by Chestnut Hill College.

As a team, the Hornets finished in third place out of a 10-team field with a final record of 7-3 across the two-day tournament.

Individually, Delaware State was led by
Kelsey Cummings,
Sydney Reardon and
Sydney Urben.

Cummings finished second overall out of a field of 79 bowlers. She knocked down a total of 1,023 pins averaging 204.60 pins for match with her highest coming in game four where she recorded a 223. Cummings eclipsed the 200-pin mark in four of her five matches.

Reardon claimed a top-five finish of her own after coming in fourth place. She recorded a total pinfall of 990 averaging 198.00 a game. She threw a personal-high of 221 in her fourth game and broke the 200-pin mark in three games.

Newcomer graduate student transfer
Sydney Urben made her presence felt this weekend with a seventh-place finish giving the Hornets three top-10 finishes for the tournament. Urben tallied 969 total pins for an average of 193.80 per game. She started off strong with her personal-high in game one after recording a 231.

Junior
Saralyne Nassberg finished just outside the top-10 after placing 11th individually. Nassberg notched 945 pins through five games for an even 189 average with game two being her highest after recording a 204.

Delaware State returns to action this weekend when the Hornets travel to Sunshine Lanes in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania for the Mount Shootout hosted by Mount St. Mary's (Md.).
