Dover, Del. (May 3, 2021) --- Delaware State women's bowling take aim at a national team championship while Hornet junior
Katie Robb (Swedesboro, N.J.) will compete for a national singles title this week.
The United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate team and singles championships will be held this week (May 5-8) in Wyoming, Mich., at the Spectrum Entertainment Complex. Â The Hornets punched their ticket to the championship competition after finishing first among 16 teams at the ITC Dayton, OH, sectional. The top four teams from the four sectionals qualified for the national championship.
Delaware State topped all teams at the Dayton sectional with a 40-game total pinfall of 7821 (195.5 avg.).
This is the second national championship tournament competition for the Hornets this season. Delaware State made the third appearance in the NCAA championship tournament in team history last month.
Robb qualified for the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships after a strong showing at the Dayton regional last month. She was No. 1 among 151 competitors in the regional singles competition with a total pinfall of 1282 for a six-game average of 213.7.
She topped the 200 mark in three of her six games, highlighted by a 279 score in game five and 246 in game one.
