Dayton, OH (Apr. 19, 2021) --- Delaware State will compete for the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Women's National Championship. The Hornets punched their ticket to next month's national championship in Wyoming, Mich., after finishing first among 16 teams at the ITC Dayton, OH, sectional. The top four teams from the four sectionals advance to the national championship.
Delaware State topped all teams at the Dayton sectional with a 40-game total pinfall of 7821 (195.5 avg.). Monmouth, an associate Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference bowling member, was second in the sectional with a total of 7607 (190.2 avg.).
The Hornets were also first at the halfway point in the sectional with a total 3979.
The ITC National Championship is set for May 5-8 at the Spectrum Entertainment Complex in Michigan.
The national championship berth continues a recent string of achievements for the DSU bowling team. The Hornets competed in the NCAA National Championship Tournament for the third time in team history and junior
Katie Robb qualified for the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships this month. Robb was No. 1 among 151 competitors in the regional singles competition with a total pinfall of 1282 for a six-game average of 213.7.
She topped the 200 mark in three of her six games, highlighted by a 279 score in game five and 246 in game one. .
