Felton, Del. (Oct. 1, 2021) --- The Delaware State equestrian team won all 10 western battles to highlight a 13-7 victory over Tennessee Martin at the Dovington Training Center on Friday.
The Hornets were a perfect 5-0 in the Horsemanship and Reining rides to key the victory.
In the Horsemanship competition, Delaware State's
Jenna Dawes was the Most Outstanding Performer, topping all riders with a score of 77.5 aboard "Pebbles."
Casey Johnson and
Aniela Cortina were equally impressive for the Hornets, posting scores of 77 each to earn Horsemanship points for the Hornets.
DSU's
Sierra Kane (74.5) and
Alexis Grogan (69.5) also turned in winning Horsemanship rides.
In the Reining competition, Delaware State's
Grace Wilson was clearly the top rider, capturing the Most Outstanding Performer award with a score of 78.5 aboard "Wimpy."
Abby Craver rode "Waldo" to a score of 72.5 to earn a point for the Hornets, while
Amber Van Segbrook (69.5),
Anastasia Brugger (68.5) and
Aidan Stetzer (65.5) also turned in winning rides in Reining for the Hornets.
Tennessee Martin was a 7-3 winner in the Jumping Seat competition, outscoring DSU 4-1 in Fences and 3-2 on the Flat.
Jordan Wicklund was a Fences winner for the Hornets with a score of 72, while
Jordan Wicklund (78) and
Gabrielle Fournier (81) outscored their opponents in the Flat competition for DSU. Â Â Â Â
