Felton, Del. (Mar. 6, 2020) --- The University of South Carolina got the best of Delaware State 14-5 in a contest between nationally-ranked equestrian teams in soggy conditions today.
The No. 4 Gamecocks were 7-2 winners in the Western competition and claimed a 7-3 in the Jumping Seat rides in the victory. USC riders earned Most Outstanding Performer awards in Fences, Flat and Horsemanship.
The highlight for Delaware State was the MOP performance by Abbey Craver, who posted a score of 69.5 aboard "Rocky" to earn a point for the Hornets in Reining.
Zoe Kirsch was a two-time Jumping Seat winner for the Hornets, collecting a Fences point with an 80 point ride on "Etty," Â and riding "Finnegan" to a score of 83 on the Flat.
DSU's
Gabrielle Fournier was a winner on the Flat, while
Kelsey McArthur recorded the Hornets' other  Western victory, topping her opponent in Horsemanship.
Delaware State will host the 2020 ECAC Equestrian Championship Tournament Mar. 26-28 at the State Fairgrounds in Harrington.
