Bishop, Ga. (Feb. 29, 2020) --- The Delaware State equestrian edged out Tennessee Martin in Horsemanship to highlight its 8-7 victory over the Sky Hawks at the University of Georgia on Saturday.
The win improves the Hornets to 3-1 vs. ECAC foes this season.
The Hornets' margin of victory came down to a 2-1 win in Horsemanship, giving DSU a  4-3 edge in the Western competition.
Delaware State's
Blayne Bell was selected as Most Outstanding Performer in Horsemanship after topping all riders with a score of 76.5 aboard "Whiz."
Casey Johnson (72.5) also was a Horsemanship winner for the Hornets. Â
The teams were even (2-2) in the Jumping Seat Flat and Fences rides and also battled to a 2-2 tie in Western Reining.
Zoe Kirsch and
Gabrielle Fournier posted wins for the Hornets in Fences, while
Erin Gordon and
Sydney Wicklund were winners on the Flat.
Abbey Craver and
Aidan Stetzer contributed to the DSU win with victories in Reining.
The DSU equestrian team is scheduled to host NCEA No. 3 South Carolina this Fri. (Mar. 6) at the Dovington Training Center in Felton.
The Hornets will also be the host team for the 2020 ECAC championship March 26-28 at the State Fairground in Harrington.Â
