Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 23, 2020) --- Delaware State fell to Campbell and host Charlotte today to close out its play in the weekend Green & White Classic.
The Hornets began the day with a 15-4 loss to Campbell, falling to the Camels for the second day ibn a row.
Campbell scored 10 runs in the first four innings and pounded out 17 hits in the contest.
Destini England was 5-for-5 with a triple and run batted in, while Cassie Wancheck and Claudia Ware drove in three runs each for the Camels.
Jasmine Melgoza was 2-for-3 with a run batted in to lead the Hornets.
Campbell led was ahead 5-0 when Alaena Seldon drove in a run on sacrifice fly for Delaware State's first run.
The Hornets scored three runs in the fourth, one on a single by Melgoza, to cut the Camel's lead to 10-4.
Jaelyn Baker had a double for DSU's lone extra base hit in the contest.
Charlotte scored in each inning, including six runs in the second, to post a 14-3 win over the Hornets.
 Four players drove in two runs each to lead the 49ers' 12-hit attack.
Jordan Casey was 2-for-3 at the plate, while Seldon and Jade King had run-scoring singles in the game for the Hornets.
Delaware State will compete in a tournament hosted by Hampton University next weekend. The Hornets will play their home opener on March 17 against Stony Brook and their MEAC opener is set for Mar. 28 at home against North Carolina Central.
